Accessibility Statement
Last updated October 13, 2026
Books are for everyone, and so is this website. ROMAR Press wants every reader, author and visitor to be able to find, read and use everything here, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use. If anything gets in your way, please tell us — contact details are at the end of this page.
1. The standard we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard most widely used for websites. We believe the public pages of romarpress.com partially conform: most of the site meets the standard, and the parts that do not yet are listed below under “Known limitations.”
2. What we have done
- Readable contrast. Text, links and buttons meet the WCAG AA contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their backgrounds. We darkened our rose and gold text colours in October 2026 to get there.
- Keyboard use. Every link, button and form can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a clearly visible focus outline. A “Skip to content” link is the first thing on every page. On the home page book, the left and right arrow keys turn the chapters.
- Less motion on request. If your device is set to reduce motion, the book turns its pages without the 3D animation, and the seasonal decorations stay still. The decorations can also be switched off with the button in the corner of the screen.
- Text alternatives. Book covers, author photographs and other meaningful images carry descriptions for screen readers. Purely decorative images are hidden from them.
- Clear structure. Pages use real headings, lists and landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer), so screen readers and browser tools can move around them.
- Works at any size. The site is built for phones first and reflows down to a narrow screen without sideways scrolling. You can zoom text to 200% without losing content.
- Plain language. We write prices, terms and policies in everyday words, and our Author FAQ answers the common questions directly.
3. Known limitations
We know about these, and we are working on them:
- E-book PDFs. The e-books sold on this site are the books’ print files. They are not yet tagged PDFs, so a screen reader may read them out of order. If you need a book in a format you can use, contact us and we will do our best to help.
- Payment pages. Checkout is run by Stripe on Stripe’s own pages, which follow Stripe’s accessibility practices rather than ours.
- Other stores. Links to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop.org and other retailers take you to their websites, which we do not control.
- Documents in the Author Portal. Contracts, manuscripts and other files shared with authors are uploaded as they are, and may not be fully accessible. Ask us and we will provide the information another way.
- Nonna’s Desk. Our website assistant is new, and we are still testing it with screen readers.
4. Tell us about a problem
If you cannot use something on this site, or you need information in a different format, please contact us. Tell us the page and what happened, and we will get back to you as soon as we can — and help you another way in the meantime.

5. How we check
We test with automated accessibility checks (Google Lighthouse) and by hand, with a keyboard and on phones and desktop computers. In October 2026, Lighthouse scored the home page and the Books page 100 for accessibility. Automated tools cannot catch everything, which is why your feedback matters.
