In her own words

Where the nameNonna came from

Nonna.

I chose the name for one simple reason: “Nonna” is the name I'm called by my four grandchildren.

A little while before the first one was born, I had a dream that someone was calling out to me in the dark, shouting “Nonna! I'm coming.” Yes, I took that as a sign and announced then and there that I would forever be known as “Nonna” to the grands.

“Nonna” left their lips shortly after the required “mama” and “daddy.”
